Head of Admissions

The Head of Admissions will build on the successful admissions strategy of recent years, with an emphasis on excellent customer service; from first enquiry through to first day.

The successful candidate will work within a strong and supportive External Relations team and together, this team ensures the school achieves and maintains its desired capacity. They will work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Academic and Pastoral Heads to ensure that admission to Badminton School runs seamlessly. Part of the role will include the ongoing development of the admissions process to streamline efficacy and respond to market changes.

The school has ambitious plans for future growth and this role, with an emphasis on exemplary externally facing relationships, will be instrumental in achieving these plans.

Hours: Working hours will be 40 hours per week; 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday with an hour for lunch.

There will be a requirement and willingness to work flexibly including weekends and evenings. There will also be a requirement to undertake overseas travel and frequently work outside of normal office hours as required by the nature of the post.

The post-holder is entitled to 25 days paid annual leave per annum, in addition to statutory holidays. Public Holidays are treated as normal working days if they fall during term time but time off will be given in lieu.

Salary: The starting salary will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

The school operates a Royal London Group Personal Pension Plan. Salaried members of staff may choose to join this scheme, which is a contributory scheme to which the school will contribute 10% of your salary if you contribute 5% of your salary. Staff who do not wish to join the scheme at these contribution rates will be auto enrolled (if eligible) in line with Government legislation (in which case the contribution rates will be 5% and 3% respectively).

Admissions Officer

Reporting to the Admissions Manager, the Admissions Officer will work to deliver a seamless Admissions service to the Prep School. The Admissions Officer role is a key interface with prospective parents and pupils, and plays a key part in building lasting relationships. The Admissions Officer will provide information and support to deliver a high-quality admissions service.

This is a customer (parent) facing role therefore you’ll have excellent relationship building skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. You’ll be strong at managing your time effectively, and prioritising work to meet the demands of the Admissions Plan. You’ll be a confident networker as this role requires working with colleagues across the Colleague to build a credible Admissions experience. You’ll be expert at working with a range of demanding customers and resolving problems quickly. The ability to remain calm under pressure is something that comes naturally! You’ll also need to be committed to working as part of a team.

The salary for this position is £28,000-£32,000 dependent on experience.

Admissions Manager

We are looking for an experienced Admissions Manager who can deliver a professional Admissions journey for prospective students and parents. The role holder will also be responsible for managing the Admissions Office and will have six direct reports.

To be successful in this role you will need to be professional and driven to deliver an excellent customer experience. You are able to multi-task and able to deliver an agreed Admissions Strategy. You will have a proven track record in Admissions within a school or similar environment. You will also be able to demonstrate a track record in developing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including feeder schools.

The role holder will be accountable for leading a team to deliver a cross-College admissions process, and identify areas for improvement where required.

The role requires you to be flexible as it might involve working outside ‘normal’ working hours.

You will be highly motivated with a proven track record in a similar role. You will take pride in delivery excellent customer service and have experience of delivering results through others. You will have excellent relationship building skills and be organised with excellent time management skills. You will be flexible and reflective and have experience of managing a team.

The salary for this position is £45,000-£50,000 dependent on experience.

Digital Marketing Officer

Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital (QEH) is one of the leading independent day schools in the country. Founded in 1590 and occupying a prominent site in the heart of Bristol, QEH is well known for high academic achievement, rich co-curricular activities and high-quality pastoral care based on strong values of personal integrity and community service.  

With more pupils than ever before, the school continues to go from strength to strength. There are over 670 pupils in the Senior School, of which 230 are in the thriving co-educational Sixth Form, with the Sixth Form made up of around 40% girls following the school’s highly successful move to post 16 co-education in 2017. The Marketing and Communications Team is central to the success of QEH. Working across both the Junior and Senior Schools, the team delivers marketing activities and events for the school, developing creative marketing strategies that reflect and build awareness of QEH and its brand.

The Digital Marketing Officer will play a key part in developing and building the QEH brand through all digital channels to ensure it continues to remain at the forefront regionally and nationally.

The role will offer the opportunity for ownership of projects and key digital areas such as social media and the school website, with the overarching aim of generating new enquiries, maintaining high retention rates and ensuring an excellent customer journey from enquiry to first day of school.

Alumni Relations Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-organised, self-motivated and forward-thinking individual to support the Alumni society of a thriving and successful independent school in Bristol.

We are looking for an individual with great inter-personal skills, alongside first-class administrative ability, to build upon and further develop this excellent network of former pupils.

The successful candidate will work with the Alumni President and Committee, as well as maintaining very strong links with the school, via the Head and other senior colleagues. The OC Society wish to provide social opportunities for Alumni to meet and to find ways in which they can support the school’s current and former students, as well as investigating other ways in which they can support the wider community.

The Senior School occupies a glorious thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.

The Alumni Society plays an active part in supporting former and current students through careful management of its funds and through close cooperation with the school. Over the last 8 years, over £1m has been donated to support bursaries at the school. They have also held social events, like Dinners, Balls and visits to local attractions.

The Society wish to develop the ways in which they remain in contact with former pupils and they wish to extend the list of those for whom they hold contact details.

The hours for this role are offered as part time, working 20 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly for 38 weeks per year, normally to include 35 weeks of term-time, although again there may be some flexibility here too. There will be the need to attend regular evening meetings, currently once every other month on a Wednesday.

You will receive a salary of £28,000 FTE, with an actual salary of £12,565 pro rata.

Admissions Coordinator

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking school with an established reputation for innovation and excellence. We are looking for a motivated and highly capable Admissions Coordinator to join our team. This post is offered as a permanent contract from February 2022.

The successful candidate will have excellent time management and organisation skills, and will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with pupils, staff and parents. The Admissions Coordinator will assist the Admissions Manager in responding to parental enquires both by phone and in writing, planning visits and taster days for prospective families, as well as Open Mornings, entrance assessments and scholarship events. Experience of data input and the drafting of correspondence are essential.

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol, easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.

It was announced in December 2021 that the school will change its name. The process of choosing a new name has begun and will involve students, former pupils, parents and staff. The new name will be announced in the summer of 2022.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom. In our recent ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.

The hours for this role are part time, working a minimum of 22 hours per week, across a minimum of 3 days. The post is term time (including INSET days) plus 3 weeks during the school holidays. Included within this, and in order to support entrance exams and Open Days, is a requirement to work an average of 2 Saturdays and 2 evenings per academic year. Exact hours and working pattern will be discussed at interview.

You will receive a salary of £20,493 to £22,183 FTE per annum pro rata (NJC pay scale point 8 to 12) dependant on skills and experience. Other benefits include 25 days holiday per year, plus 8 bank holidays, a lunch during term time, free parking on site, a defined contribution pension scheme and staff discount on school fees in accordance with the staff remission policy.
