Admissions Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an adaptable and proactive Admissions Manager to ensure delivery of a first-class applicant experience.

You will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the admissions cycle and recruitment of pupils into our Prep School ensuring that we reach the admissions targets set. In addition to this, you will provide a high quality administration service to the Head of Prep, and associated teams.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a busy and changing environment, and be a calm and organised people person.

You will have excellent administrative, communication and customer service skills to provide all prospective families with a positive experience of the school.
Previous experience of an educational admissions process, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.

Marketing Manager

Are you an energetic, focussed, and creative Marketing Manager with experience of developing communications and advertising plans both on and off-line, producing content for social channels and generating PR in line with marketing strategy? If so, please read on.

This is a rare opportunity to promote all aspects of marketing for Downside School to ensure that strategic objectives are met. The Marketing Manager will work closely with the Director of Admissions and Marketing, the Head and the Development Office to deliver effective communications to prospective parents, current parents and the wider community.

Working as part of the Admissions and Marketing Team you will play a key role in the brand management and development of Downside School, both on and offline, and consistent with its Benedictine ethos.

You will have a track record of success in marketing communications, proven experience in creating meaningful digital campaigns and a deep understanding of what parents are looking for when they choose a school. This understanding, combined with your key skills highlighted in the person specification, will enable you to produce engaging and authentic communications that puts Downside at the top of their consideration list.

To be considered you must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) as well as strong IT skills and experience of proof reading and copy-editing. Experience with content management systems, a range of digital content and social media and the ability to prioritise and organise own workload to meet agreed targets and deadlines.

The ability to demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding of children and young people and to the Catholic and Benedictine ethos of the School is of high importance.

Downside is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 11 to 18, and one of England’s oldest and most distinguished Catholic schools. We are situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, twelve miles south of the city of Bath.

Contractual Details

Salary: £36,500
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 09.00-17.00 with an hour for lunch. There
will be some weekend and evening work. This is an all-year position.
Contract: Permanent

Admissions Co-ordinator

Millfield Prep School is seeking to appoint an Admissions Co-ordinator to support the work of the Director of Admissions (Prep).  The successful applicant will report directly to the Director of Admissions (Prep) and work alongside the part-time Admissions Assistant to ensure successful recruitment of pupils to the Pre-School, Pre-Prep and Prep.  The Admissions Co-ordinator will be a passionate advocate for Millfield and our vision to be the world leader for the development of children. She/he will be a prominent ambassador for the school, combining a genuine commitment to customer service and strong market knowledge with excellent administrative and organisational skills.  The successful candidate may have previous experience of admissions in independent schools and understand recruitment processes for pupils in both the UK and overseas.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm during term time with 4 compulsory Saturday’s/Sunday’s and Monday to Friday 9.30am – 3.30pm outside of term time. You will receive a one-hour unpaid lunch break during term time and 30 mins during non-term time. There may be occasions when you will be required to work at weekends for which you will receive time off in lieu. The salary is up to £25,000.

PR and Marketing Officer

International Admissions Co -ordinator

The School is looking for a new International Admissions Co ordinator to support the recruitment of international pupils. Reporting to the Director of Development, this important role will be responsible for the administration of international applications to Wellington School and take an active role in all aspects of their admissions process including database management and planning of boarding allocations.
As the primary contact for parents of international applicants, this role works alongside the Director of Development and two other Admissions Assistants to develop and sustain excellent working relationships with overseas agents, parents and pupils.
As part of a small team, this role will also support the UK admissions processes when required.
The International Admissions Co ordinator will be a courteous, professional and knowledgeable point of contact for people both within and outside the School via email and telephone; ensuring that all communication with parents, applicants and agents is timely and appropriate.

Major Gifts Executive

A new and exciting position has become available in our Alumni and Foundation team for a confident communicator with experience in fundraising/ sales.

Millfield is one of the leading UK independent schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years. Millfield is not like other schools and never has been. Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6) and a further 450 students at the neighbouring Prep School. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from more than 70 countries. Millfield is an incredible place and with over 22,000 Old Millfieldians all around the world, there are many well-known faces who have been hugely successful in the fields of sport, science, music, academics and more.

As the Major Gifts Executive your role will be to manage, nurture and enhance relationships with a portfolio of 100 – 125 major gift prospects and to build on the major gifts program by identifying, steward and solicit prospective donors.

Key duties include (but not limited to):

  1. Pro-actively establish and develop purposeful relationships with external stakeholders (alumni, parents of past or current students and other friends of Millfield, trusts and foundations and corporate bodies) in order to secure new and additional funds to support the schools strategic fundraising priorities.
    2. Lead the process of identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major prospects.
    3. Assist with the development and execution of a solicitation plan with an emphasis on personal face-to-face visits.
    4. Work in conjunction with the Head of Alumni and Foundation to identify, visit and evaluate alumni, current and former parents, friends and grandparent prospects.
    5. Develop strategies to cultivate and update prospects on key initiatives.
    6. Provide prospects with planned giving ideas and illustrations as appropriate.
    7. Develop a tiered system of major gift prospects and facilitate the movement of those prospects through the various stages of giving.
    8. Prepare written strategies to cultivate relationships that will lead to solicitations and stewardship of major and planned gifts; and ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement of major and planned gifts.
    9. Attend key events to interact with donors and prospects as well as keep apprised of timely and relevant School information in order to create solicitation proposals.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with substantial experience working in a results-driven environment and of asking for financial commitments from individuals. To be successful in this role you will need be a self-starter capable of handling curveballs thrown your way; have outstanding written and verbal communication skills including being able to navigate sensitive topics of conversation and articulate the school purpose and objectives; be target-driven, enthusiastic, and resilient; and have great IT skills. Due to the nature of the work and the individuals you may be interacting with in this role, a commitment to confidentiality is also essential.

This role will primarily work 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday however flexibility will be needed as occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary due to alumni and fundraising events.

Admissions Registrar

Perrott Hill is looking for an excellent and experienced administrator with a positive and can-do attitude and outstanding interpersonal skills to take up the position of
Admissions Registrar. This is a great opportunity to join the award-winning team at Perrott Hill, in an important and pivotal position.
