Alumni Relations Officer

We are looking for a talented and dedicated Alumni Relations Officer to join Wycombe Abbey’s Development and External Relations department.

Wycombe Abbey has been at the forefront of girls’ boarding education for the last 125 years. The Development and External Relations team is responsible for engaging a wide range of stakeholders in the current and future activities of the School. The Alumni Relations function supports former pupils and former staff of Wycombe Abbey (Seniors and Honorary Seniors) and coordinates all aspects of their engagement with the School.

The successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time, as we look to build on previous alumni activity to deepen engagement in support of a new School-wide strategy. This role will have an emphasis on alumni communications, events and fundraising among our global community of 4000+ Seniors. As such, it presents an exciting opportunity to add real value to the Development and External Relations department. The successful candidate will have a strong set of relevant experience, be a positive and proactive team-player, exercise sound judgement and have excellent organisational and communications skills. A Bachelor’s Degree with experience working in a similar role is preferable.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. You will be required to work out of hours occasionally to ensure the successful delivery of alumni and supporter events.

Alumni Relations Officer

Reporting to: Development Manager/Director of A,C&D
Contract: 3 days per week, term time only plus 15 days in school holidays
Occasional work will be needed during evenings and weekends.

The Alumni Relations Officer role requires experience of customer relationship management and marketing, to implement the annual communications plan to the school alumni network.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator – both written and verbal – with the appropriate level of digital literacy to manage online networks as well as more traditional mailing channels. Ability to ‘think on feet’ and manage day-to-day administration of busy alumni office under the direction of the Development Manager, the successful applicant will be able to quickly immerse themselves in the culture of the school and become an advocate for the alumni community.

Reporting to the Development Manager, the role will also include ad-hoc communications support for the wider Admissions, Communications and Development team.

Skills and attributes:
• experience within a communications and customer relationship management function
• digitally savvy with the ability to manage multiple communications channels and identify new opportunities to reach our diverse alumni community
• expertise in relationship management, ability to relate well to the whole school community – prospective current and former parents, alumni, pupils, staff, governors and friends of the school
• event management experience within a comparable field
• outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Alumni Relations:
• administrative support to the Development Manager and wider Admissions, Communications & Development team when required
• dealing with all incoming Old Colfeian correspondence and managing alumni database
• managing induction for new Old Colfeians upon leaving school
• proactively working to strengthen links between existing alumni and wider school community
• conducting tours for visiting Old Colfeians and their families
• managing alumni network events – digital and in-person
• implement alumni communications plan including creation and management of newsletters, social media channels and maintenance of relevant pages on school website
• working closely with Development Manager and Communications Manager on the production of development campaign documents and communications to alumni, newsletter, social media and school website etc.

• identify opportunities to promote events and achievements of the school to alumni community and vice-versa
• work with Development Manager to promote the work of the Development Office within school community
• to be a visible and approachable figure for current pupils and staff, and to listen to their perspective on school life.

Alumni Relations Officer

We are seeking to appoint an Alumni Relations Officer who will play a key role in our Office of Development and Alumni Relations, as the first point of contact for our global network of alumni,
friends and donors, The Columban Network.

It is a very active body with nearly 11,000 members. More than 6,000 of those are former pupils, the Old Columbans (OCs).

We organise a full programme of social and networking events throughout the year, plus lots of volunteering opportunities. These are supported by website content, e-newsletters and lots of
social media activity on Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

Working as part of a small, friendly team, the role is busy, varied and interesting. Reporting to the Director of Communications, Admissions and Development, the ideal candidate will be
well-organised, with excellent communications skills and a high level of computer literacy.

An ability to work flexibly is also required for some out of hours and weekend events.

Marketing Content Manager Photography and Alumni Relations

Full time in term-time, plus 2 weeks in the school holidays

 (36 weeks per annum).

We are looking for a creative, dynamic individual with photography, videography and organisational skills together with a keen digital awareness. You will have responsibility for editing photographs and video content. With a passion for event organisation, you are capable of marketing Seaford with flair and creativity. Your love for photography and keen eye for detail is key. You will support and work closely with the Director of Marketing in Seaford’s fun, forward thinking marketing team.

You will produce creative and engaging content, photographs and video footage that will be included across social media channels including the School’s website. You will also have responsibility to develop and update the website with photography, including the gallery section, webpages, and headers.  Working with Seaford’s photographer and the team, you will support our communications plan.  Based on the School’s calendar this showcases life at the school in an authentic way. Your work will involve all areas of the school, including sport, performing arts, academic life, boarding, co-curricular activities, pastoral care as well as trips, social events and dinners.  If you are used to shooting sports, events and everyday life, we want to hear from you! The role also includes creating engaging content for Seaford’s social media channels, with a focus on photography for Instagram (@seafordcollege and @seafordsport). Experience with drone photography and video is preferred but not essential.

We are looking for a strong photographer, if you don’t have videography skills, but are keen to learn, please apply as training will be given in filming and editing. 

Alumni Relations – the role also includes supporting the Director of Marketing with links between alumni (Old Seafordians) and the School. With excellent communication and correspondence skills, You will be the main point of call to enhance and maintain relationships with our “Old Seafordians”.  This involves the organisation of online, networking, social events and reunions. Your flair for photography will be showcased at alumni events and you will update and develop our alumni website with blogs photographs and content.

You need to have energy, good communication skills and passion for event organisation. Training will be given for the alumni relations part of the role. The role includes Saturdays to take photographs and film sport and co-curricular activities and evening work to cover events at the School.  The pattern of work is based on our School calendar which feeds into our communications plan. Please see our website for term dates

Alumni Engagement Coordinator

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Alumni Engagement Coordinator to represent the school and be the primary link between the school and its former pupils, parents and staff. The role will be to build on existing work in this area, develop an agreed alumni engagement strategy and help grow the alumni network further.

The successful candidate is likely to have a background working within marketing or customer services, with a proven ability to building strategic working relationships with stakeholder groups. Digital Communications, Marketing & Alumni Officer
