Design and Production Manager

Charterhouse is a beautiful school and a wonderful place to live and work. It was founded in 1611 and moved to its present magnificent 250-acre site near Godalming in Surrey in 1872. Few schools can offer such a splendid backdrop for teaching and learning, and the School community is very strong, with excellent relationships between pupils and staff. As part of our ambitious new plans, and building on the success of our mixed Sixth Form, we are excited to be moving to full coeducation from the age of 13 and look forward to welcoming our first girls into the Fourth Form (Year 9) in September 2021, the year in which we will celebrate half a century of girls at Charterhouse. There will be girls in every year group from September 2023. The pupil roll will grow over the next decade from 800 today to around 1,000, with the increase representing additional places for girls. We have all seen first-hand the benefits of coeducation in our Sixth Form, which is highly regarded by both boys and girls. We now want to extend those social, cultural and academic advantages to the whole community. With our move to coeducation we aim to bring out the very best in all pupils, in all years.

We are seeking an organised and highly professional Design and Production Manager to work in a very busy department, where the post holder will work alongside the External Relations teams and School academic departments, to generate high quality design work. The role will also involve the development of in-house filming, editing and broadcasting of School activities with the Director of Business Development and External Relations.

The post holder will be highly motivated, possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude, use initiative to complete work to tight deadlines, have a thorough approach to work with meticulous attention to detail and an ability to work accurately under pressure. Previous experience of working as a designer is essential, along with demonstrable experience of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Creative Cloud.

The salary for the role is £32,000 to £37,000 per annum depending on experience, working 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) over 4 days, all year round, with additional benefits including membership of the Charterhouse Sports Club and eligibility to join the School’s contributory pension scheme.

For any informal queries please telephone Caroline Page, HR Manager, on 01483 291506. For further details and an application form, please visit our website at https://www.charterhouse.org.uk/about-us/employment-opportunities

Closing Date for Applications: Noon on Friday 16 October 2020.

Charterhouse is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
