Digital Communications Officer

Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £25,800 – £30,000 per annum depending on experience

If you are passionate about visual communication, photography and film, and possess excellent design and writing skills, this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the Communications Team at one of the leading schools in the UK.

You will be joining a team which strives to deliver a first-class service at all times and leads the way in ensuring that Putney High School is represented professionally and accurately at all times. With an ambitious strategic plan and a focus on outstanding teaching and learning, wellbeing and opportunity, there is much to talk about.

You will play an important role in building and delivering Putney’s messaging and ethos by creating imaginative digital content for the School website and social media as well as writing weekly newsletters. You will also attend key events, taking and editing photography and video footage and ensure this is shared on social media platforms.

You will need excellent IT skills and the ability to use WordPress, Mailchimp and the Adobe CC suite.

Loughborough Schools Foundation is a charitable foundation of four independent schools in the heart of Loughborough, educating children from 3 to 18 years. It comprises Loughborough Grammar School (boys, 10–18 years), Loughborough High School (girls, 11-18 years), Loughborough Amherst School (Co-educational 4-18 years) and Fairfield Prep School (Co-educational 3-11 years). In addition, the Loughborough Nursery (6 weeks – 4 years) is our day nursery which opened in 2016.

The Schools are situated on neighbouring campuses close to the town centre and enjoy an excellent reputation for their academic, cultural and sporting achievements and for the quality of their pastoral care.

The Digital Marketing Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the social media strategy for Loughborough Schools Foundation. This includes planning, goal setting, the development of brand awareness and online reputation, and content management.

The post-holder must be a highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic individual with experience of managing social media channels and the ability to drive digital strategies that are proven by testing and metrics. The post-holder will be expected to report on the effectiveness of all social media marketing plans.

This role would suit someone with a positive, creative and imaginative outlook, excellent IT and social media capabilities and excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle and prioritise multiple projects in a busy and exciting environment.

This post is full time however a term-time (plus 2 weeks during the school holidays) working pattern would be considered for the right candidate. Please note that this role requires a willingness to attend events and activities which will require some evening and weekend working.

Digital Content Manager

Principal Role 

Department role: The Communications Department is a busy department working at pace to manage the School’s corporate reputation and brand/associated brands: designing and delivering communications activities that reflect the school’s mission and values.

Postholder role: To deliver the online presence of marketing communications collaterals: ensuring leaflets, booklets, newsletters, forms and other publications are posted online. Design online content in line with the school’s brand and key messages and ensure it is effectively communicated and delivered to the required standards both internally and externally.

Main Duties 

 Overall:

  • To design and input suitable copy and content for digital and online collaterals – both external and internal
  • Assisting in the formulation of strategies to build a lasting digital connection with the school’s stakeholders.

Social media:

  • To manage the main social media accounts for the Senior and Junior Schools on a day to day basis, including monitoring the channels
  • Work with other members of the Communications team to gather school news and promote externally/internally
  • To contribute to the development of a formal social media strategy for the school to maximise ‘hits and followers’.

Website:

  • Day to day management of the school’s website – adding new content and features and working with any web agency suppliers on maintenance issues
  • Contribute to the redesign the school website, working with the chosen external website agency
  • Management of online requirements of the Admissions department: including registration forms, applications, designing/overseeing the design of special website banners, extracting and manipulating associated data from programs such as: iSAMS, SagePay, Mail Chimp
  • SEO management: maximising the positioning of Eltham College in relevant internet searches
  • Compiling a monthly report (Google Analytics) regarding website usage (and more frequent for departmental use) and other website usage analysis as required
  • To work with the school’s external photographer as required to design/promote suitable content about the school and its activities in online/digital formats.

Media relations:

  • Contributing to the use of PressBurst and other online media relations tools to promote school news.
  • Supporting other members of the Communications team in logistics and general organisation for main school events, as required (including Open Days, Visitor Mornings, and Speech Days).

Corporate identity:

  • Contribute to and support the evolution of the school’s corporate identity and brand guidelines.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • At least 2 years’ minimum of experience as a Digital/Online marketing executive
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing and implementing digital marketing strategies
  • Good knowledge of all different digital marketing channels
  • Good knowledge and experience with online marketing tools and best practices
  • Solid and proven experience of SEO/SEM, Google Analytics and CRM software
  • Familiarity with web design
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the school’s profile and success
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Able to work with and complement other communications skills in the team including photography, PR/media relations, copywriting and issues management
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of programs like WordPress, Mailchimp and InDesign

Preferred:

  • Ideally a graduate and preferably (but not mandatory) a qualification in Marketing/Digital technologies or related field
  • Knowledge / experience of working in the education sector
  • Some corporate design experience and expertise
  • Good copywriting skills
  • Attention to detail

We’re recruiting for a full time Digital Marketing Officer with creative flair, exceptional digital marketing skills and initiative in spades! You will be adept at creating and managing digital content, thoroughly web and social media savvy, and have a proactive approach and real enthusiasm for translating ideas into marketing messages – and creating the campaigns that communicate them.
