This is an exciting time to join the College with an ambitious programme of development
scheduled for the 175th anniversary, aspirations for global partnerships, and increasing interest for boarding places in a beautiful setting that affords pupils with the space and time to learn.
The Director of Admissions is a central role within the College and provides an excellent opportunity for a highly-organised, personable and collegiate individual to lead this key department at an exciting time. The successful candidate will lead on all elements associated with admissions and own the pupil journey from prospective to pupils commencing their education at Glenalmond while it is absolutely accepted that a whole school effort is required. The post-holder will work closely with Marketing, Finance, and Development, in addition of course, to the Senior Leadership Team and House staff. The successful candidate will be part of the Strategy Group and will report to the Bursar.
Appointment is from February but the start date is flexible for the right candidate. This position is full-time and will especially suit a candidate with experience of working in a public or private sector organisation with experience at a similar level and performing a similar function.
The Director of Admissions works in the Admissions Office, overlooking the beautiful Front
Quad, in the heart of the College.
In 2021/22, the College employs 131 members of staff across all departments. Within the
Admissions team there is an Admissions Officer and Admissions Assistant, both of whom report to the Director of Admissions.
At the College, and within the team, there is a strong emphasis on teamwork, mutual support
and flexibility, and the College provides opportunities for innovation and development.
Members of the Support staff are appraised every year. This process provides an opportunity
to review progress and identify future opportunities for development.

We are searching for a Director of Admissions, Marketing and Student Engagement to lead the Department, working with the Corporate Strategic Team to set and meet recruitment, awareness, retention, and engagement targets. This is an exciting opportunity for the postholder to develop and mentor a new team, which will comprise experienced members of staff, as well as staff new to Queen Ethelburga’s.
Admissions, Marketing and Student Engagement Department:
Queen Ethelburga’s operates term-time academic courses for students aged 3 months to 19 years, in addition to a range of short courses and holiday clubs offered during school holiday periods. Facilities are also available for booking by external organisations.
The Admissions, Marketing and Student Engagement team is responsible for the recruitment and retention of UK and international students, for all programmes detailed above. It also takes responsibility for all marketing and mass communication, always making sure that marketing is demonstrably linked to both the needs of the organisation and the expectations of our UK and international markets. The team leads with ensuring that alumni and other relevant commercial organisations are fully engaged with life at Queen Ethelburga’s, developing these networks for the benefit of all in the QE community. Finally, widening participation is a key focus of the organisation and the team is expected to work with relevant stakeholders, in order to support students from a wide range of backgrounds, so that they are able to benefit from the opportunities provided by Queen Ethelburga’s.
The team works closely with the Corporate Strategic Team and the Collegiate Leadership Team in order to ensure the financial sustainability of the Collegiate from year to year.

King’s Ely is a thriving independent school with over 1000 pupils aged 2-18, of
which approximately 200 over the age of 8 are boarders.
We seek an exceptional person to provide strategic leadership in pupil recruitment and marketing both within and outside the School.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director of Admissions and Marketing will have a clear understanding of pupil recruitment in the independent sector and take personal responsibility for achieving agreed targets. Working as part of the School’s Senior Leadership Team the successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines, line manage and delegate where appropriate. The post is open to candidates from non-teaching backgrounds but may be combined with a small amount of teaching.

A member of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will work closely with the Director of External Relations and Communications, to maximise the recruitment of a full list of pupils for entry each September, filling all available spaces in Houses and building a waiting list for future years. The role of Director of Admissions is a demanding and wide-ranging senior post requiring a proactive and outgoing approach. This exciting leadership position will most likely be suited to an experienced professional from within the independent schools’ sector with a proven track record within an admissions related context. This could be directly from a Registry function, or indirectly via hands-on involvement with customer facing aspects of the admissions process, for example as a Housemaster/mistress or another senior role within a senior or prep school.
