Director of Marketing and Admissions

Wycliffe College is a thriving independent co-educational Day and Boarding school for over 620 pupils aged 3-18 years. Set within the heart of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds on a beautiful 52-acre site the College enjoys excellent links to London both by road and rail and is within half an hour of the first-class amenities on offer in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Bristol.

Wycliffe is seeking to appoint an ambitious, creative and commercially-minded Director of Marketing and Admissions. Reporting to the Head, and a member of the Leadership Team, the post holder will provide inspiring and strategic leadership of Wycliffe’s Marketing and Admissions activities across the College’s Prep and Senior Schools. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of Wycliffe’s strategic ambitions, to strengthen the College’s brand, increase its national and international reach, realise pupil recruitment targets and deliver a customer-focused application journey.

This is a high-profile and exciting leadership position suited to a senior commercial marketing professional who can demonstrate established and effective leadership skills, combined with an extensive marketing, communications or a marketing-led sales background featuring an international aspect. Prior experience of working in a school is not essential but the successful candidate will have empathy for independent education in general and the Wycliffe ethos in particular, combined with an instinctive feel for the College’s customers and their needs.

The successful candidate will be an articulate, persuasive and credible ambassador for the College and will possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A highly analytical marketing professional who is ready to hit the ground running and ensure that admissions targets are met and strategy is improved would thrive in this role. Knowledge of the most effective marketing and admissions techniques and tools to help Wycliffe achieve its strategic objectives will be essential.

Director of External Relations

Director of External Relations (full-time, 52 weeks per year)

September 2022

Salary scale £48,000 – £52,000 per year.

We seek to appoint a driven marketing professional with experience in branding and digital marketing (website and social media), along with PR and event management. An ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously, to deadlines and within budget, is essential. Outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, strong interpersonal and organisational skills and computer proficiency are vital.

This new post is designed to take the lead in creating, developing, implementing and managing the communications and marketing strategies for Tudor Hall and Carrdus in order to support the achievement of the schools’ objectives. This will include pupil recruitment and retention, and communications and content strategies, as well as broader PR work establishing a strong understanding of the schools’ brand both internally and externally.

The successful candidate will be dynamic, focused and lead by example. They will be calm under pressure, resilient and tenacious. We are looking for someone who wishes to invest wholeheartedly in this dynamic, forward-thinking, and caring community.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week excluding lunch), but the nature of the responsibilities is such that additional working may be required.

Tudor Hall is a girls’ boarding school with a strong sense of community. Carrdus is an independent day school for girls and boys aged 3–11 years old.

The Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the marketing strategy. The post holder is responsible for leading and developing the Marketing, Admissions and Communications team and for engaging the wider School staff in the parent experience. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in education or may have worked in an environment that has involved the marketing of a high value service or product and where there is an ongoing long term relationship with the customer. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their successes in this. Knowledge of international marketing will be advantageous, particularly the Asian markets.
Central to the role is the ability to understand the needs of current and prospective parents, and to identify strategies and initiatives which enable Ackworth School to meet these needs in the short and long term. Success in CRM is essential.
