Alumni Relations and Development Officer

18-month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of moving to a permanent role, 35 hours per week. Salary £27,750 to £31,550 per annum inclusive.

City of London Freemen’s School is a thriving independent co-educational day and boarding school, situated on the outskirts of the pretty village of Ashtead, Surrey. Freemen’s is known for the quality of its education provision, whilst ensuring that students are well supported and encouraged in a nurturing, yet academic, environment.

We are seeking to appoint a talented Alumni Relations and Development Officer to join the School’s expanding Development & Alumni team, situated within the wider External Relations division. This is a new position, and the successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time, where the role can create a real impact both within the School and the wider community.

With a history spanning nearly 170 years, Freemen’s has a large alumni network located all over the world. Whilst many alumni are already actively engaged with the School, we wish to develop this relationship and draw our former students closer. With experience in alumni engagement, or in a sales or marketing role in the education sector, you will be highly personable and outgoing, and have experience in providing superlative customer service. You will be confident as the ‘face’ of the Freemen’s Alumni Network, with activities including holding alumni events, creating new and strengthening existing alumni communications, and supporting the wider Development function through identifying alumni with the capacity to support the School in a variety of ways.

You will also support the development activities of the Development, Community & Partnerships Manager and their team, ensuring that information is clearly recorded on the database, and communicated to all team members. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, as is a creative mindset and a passion for education.

With a strong emphasis on professional development and working within a highly supportive team, we will provide you with the opportunity to grow and develop your alumni engagement and fundraising skills in a fast-paced environment, where every day brings new exciting opportunities, and all within 57 acres of stunning Surrey countryside.

Normal working hours are 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, based in the School in Ashtead Park, with the expectation to attend a number of development & alumni, community, and marketing events (which may take place out of typical hours), as required.
