Reed’s School

Alumni Relations Officer

Salary: £35,000-£39,000

Full time • Permanent • Year round position • Core hours are 8.30am – 5.00pm (with the possibility for some flexibility on start and finish times based on individual circumstances).

Reed’s School, located in Cobham Surrey, is a leading HMC independent day and boarding school, providing a values-driven education for around 800 pupils: boys aged between 11 and 18 years with girls joining in the Sixth Form. Set in over 40 acres of Surrey countryside, the School benefits from all the facilities of a boarding school which, in turn, helps provide the welcoming and warm community feel that embodies our ethos and character.

Reed’s recognises the importance of alumni relations in the School’s overall strategic plan. We are seeking to appoint an innovative and proactive Alumni Relations Officer to assist in maintaining and cultivating strong relationships with our Old Reedonians (ORs). This is key in fulfilling one of our School’s key aims in building a community for life.

The Alumni Relations Officer will be an energetic individual with strong organisational skills able to engage with our OR community and will have responsibility for management of alumni communications, publications, events and the database.

This role will report into the Head of Alumni & Community Relations and will support both that position and the Director of Development & External Relations to strengthen relationships and build engagement, leading to increased philanthropic support

The role-holder will also be required to work some weekends and evenings to assist with alumni events, for which reasonable notice will be given.

For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete a Reed’s School application form. Applicants are also required to submit a covering letter and CV with their application. Full details including a job description and application form can be found on our website (www.reeds.surrey.sch.uk) or alternatively by emailing hr@reeds.surrey.sch.uk

Closing date: midday, Monday 31 July 2023

Initial interviews to be held on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd August 2023.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Reed’s School and Ripley Court School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
