Development Manager

Full time with flexibility
Permanent
£35,000 – £40,000 per annum

If you offer fundraising experience and enjoy variety in your work, this is an exciting opportunity to join the fundraising team at St. Edward’s and play a key role helping as many young people as possible from all backgrounds to experience a St. Edward’s education.

You will be joining St. Edward’s during what is a vital moment in the story of the School as we have an ambitious vision for the future and you could be a part of making that vision a reality.

St. Edward’s is affectionately known within our community as Teddies and you will join the ‘Beyond Teddies’ team, which looks after Partnerships, Community and Fundraising. We are a high-performing, energetic and fun group, who work with colleagues and volunteers across the School and within our community to create new opportunities for engagement, support, community service and fundraising. We provide innovative and creative engagement opportunities that will attract all generations of alumni as well as parents and local community residents.

Playing a fundamental role in the strategy, tone and direction of our programs of activity, you will work with the team to deliver a comprehensive fundraising programme and to encourage lifelong engagement and support of the School. This will include developing persuasive and innovative fundraising proposals, a comprehensive stewardship strategy and identifying and engaging with alumni, parents, friends and volunteers to generate support.

An important focus of the role is to be responsible for regular giving campaigns, mid-level giving programme, crowd-funding initiatives and giving days. You will manage the prospect pool and develop excellent relationships with donors and prospects, with an emphasis on the lower to mid end of the giving pyramid, focussing on marcomm’s initiatives and events.

The working hours are full-time or term-time (approximately 39 weeks per year). A degree of flexibility may be possible for the right candidate. However, the minimum weekly contracted hours are 30 per week.

You will need to be a confident, compelling and engaging communicator, with an understanding of differing types of fundraising initiatives. Experience of working in a school, higher-educational establishment or charitable organisation would be beneficial.

In return, St. Edward’s can offer a variety of benefits including:

  • A friendly and inclusive working environment
  • Free meals
  • Free Nuffield Health Gym membership (including membership for your partner and children under the age of 21)
  • Free car parking
  • Defined contribution pension scheme with Scottish Widows. The standard employee contribution rate is 5% with the employer contributing 8%. From 1st September 2022, enhanced contributions by the employee will be matched by the employer, up to the cap of 12%
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
