Marketing and Communications Manager

Closing date: Noon, Monday 13th March
FTE Salary: £38-42,000 fte depending on experience

Westbourne School is a leading co-educational Independent School for pupils aged three to sixteen.
The School is based in the leafy historic suburbs of Sheffield, less than 15 minutes’ drive from the Peak District National Park. Westbourne is the only co-educational independent school in Sheffield offering first class education to girls and boys from the age of 3 to 16.
The School is centred around individualised learning, and offers every child the opportunity to excel and to be the best that they can be. In addition, the School delivers some of the best teaching, learning and results for the brightest girls and boys.
The School is at an exciting crossroads in its history, with a new Head, and a recently completed £3m estates development project, including a new Hall, three classrooms, changing rooms, facilities and a play area.

The School now seeks to appoint a talented and creative Marketing and Communications Manager. Reporting directly to the Head, this is a key role which will support the School’s vision and strategic aims, and the post holder will work closely with the Head and the Leadership team to further enhance and strengthen the School’s reputation, pupil roll and profile.
We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter, with a proactive and hands-on approach to Marketing and Communications. Whilst some support may be available from external agencies and school administration, this is very much an operational post, where the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on their own initiative to deliver key Marketing and communications outcomes.

The successful applicant will:
Be experienced in working at both a strategic and operational level
Have a proven track record of working collaboratively within a wider team and be keen to work closely with Admissions, Senior Leadership, Academic and Support staff and the wider School community
Have a sound understanding of Marketing and Communications in an independent educational setting, including knowledge of maintained and independent school competitors in the locality
Be able to develop and enhance the School brand, ensuring all communications and marketing activity reflects the School’s key marketing messages, vision and values
Be adept at producing engaging and distinctive promotional materials
Have experience of creating, maintaining and developing digital and social platforms, with support from external agencies and the school community where appropriate
Be creative, enthusiastic and inspirational, with the ability to drive recruitment, retention and reputation
Have a warm, open and engaging personality with the ability to work effectively with the whole School community

We offer:
A busy and happy working environment within a friendly team
Excellent support from Governors, the Head, SLT and colleagues
A competitive salary, pension scheme and a range of other benefits including school lunch, and parking.
Professional Development opportunities
25 days annual leave, additional office closure days between Christmas and New Year, plus bank holidays
An element of hybrid working arrangements may available

This is a permanent, full-time role, although some flexibility might be available in terms of working arrangements, for example, ‘term time plus’ and/or flexible hours for the right candidate. A flexible attitude to working hours is necessary however, as the post holder will occasionally be required to work in the evenings or at the weekend for open events etc.
