An outstanding opportunity to join the team at one of the leading preparatory schools in the country from December 2021/January 2022. Cheam School, a wonderful co-educational Prep School on the Berkshire/Hampshire border is looking for a full-time Registrar to join a dynamic and warm administrative team.
Cheam School is situated in a stunning rural location ten minutes from Newbury and fifteen minutes from Basingstoke, just off the A339. It is surrounded by smaller towns and villages from which it draws many of its day pupils.
Cheam was founded in 1645 and is one of the oldest prep schools in the world. Cheam is an IAPS boarding and day school with some 375 pupils, boys, and girls. Cheam prides itself on its excellent all-round record academically, musically, artistically and on the sports field. The facilities are outstanding.
On completing their life at Cheam, children move on to the top Public Schools in England, including Eton, Wellington, Marlborough, Radley, Harrow, Winchester, Bradfield and St. Mary’s Calne. The school is non-selective yet achieves consistently high standards academically through an inspirational and dedicated team of teachers, throughout the Pre-Prep and Prep schools.

About the Role:

This is a full time, in term time role (8-4pm) and up to 80 hours during school holidays through the year. Please note, term time includes the three days immediately preceding and following a term.

The Registrar is accountable to the Headmaster and will be working closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications (HoMC) and the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO). The Registrar’s primary responsibilities are pupil recruitment, customer service and administration. The registrar is accountable for all aspects of the admissions process, from initial website contact to the point of leaving the school. They are responsible for all communications with prospective parents prior to joining the school, ensuring that strong links are forged quickly and then nurtured over the course of the admissions process. This is a busy department, and the Registrar is required to manage a fast paced and varying workload, whilst offering a high-quality admissions experience to parents.
